June 25, 2012 — Hialeah

Police tracked a stolen work van to the Presidente Hotel.

As officers arrived around 11:45 a.m., Angel Soto got into the van and tried to drive away, hitting a police vehicle and an officer. Police fired and Soto, 41, was hit. He drove two blocks, then got out of the car and and surrendered. A woman in the car was not injured.

Soto was sentenced to five years in prison for grand theft, cocaine possession, aggravated assault and other charges. Read more
