March 26, 2009 — Seffner

At about 6:40 p.m., Deputy Ricco Palermo confronted Gilbert Velez on Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard.

Velez, 56, was carrying a rifle on his shoulder and pointing it at people. He refused to put down the "assault-type" rifle. Instead, he turned and pointed it at the deputy.
