Dec. 26, 2009 — Fort Lauderdale

Four officers arrived at the Downbeat Club on 15th Way after 3 a.m. following a report of a man with a gun.

As officers approached Allen Bryant, 31, who resembled the man in the description, he bolted.

Officers could see that he was carrying a handgun. Police say that when Bryant reached a parking lot behind 1545 NW 6th St., he turned toward them and pointed a silver handgun. Read more

Three officers fired, hitting Bryant five times. He died at the hospital.

Bryant had been released from prison in April after serving roughly 10 years for crimes including armed robbery and attempted murder.

This was the 133rd police shooting in Florida in 2009.

The same day, one officer shot one person in Aventura .

Also on the same day, three officers shot one person in St. Petersburg .
