May 6, 2009 — Orlando

Just before 3 a.m., Vales Delices, 23, was driving his Cadillac CTS west on Church Street, which had limited access because of Cinco de Mayo celebrations.

For unknown reasons, Delices plowed into several cars before crashing into the front of the Antigua Night Club as some 300 partiers were leaving.

Wedged against a wall, police say Delices refused orders to leave the car. He pulled away, crossing the street where there were more pedestrians, and hit several police cars. Read more

He then headed east toward Orange Avenue, at times driving on the sidewalk, before being stopped by two officers.

Officers David Alban and Daniel Brady fired at least six shots at the car.

Delices died at the hospital. No pedestrians were seriously injured.
