Nov. 7, 2009 — Jacksonville

Responding to a report of a robbery in progress, police surrounded a Family Dollar store.

Jacksonville Sheriff's Officer Eric Long went to the rear of the store. Awar Kareen Browder came out of the store with a small-caliber revolver in his hand and Long shot him several times.

Browder had previously been charged with escaping from secure detention, and had been convicted on a number of drug-related charges and grand theft in 2005.

This was the 114th police shooting in Florida in 2009.

The same day, two officers shot one person in Port Charlotte .

Three days later, one officer shot one person in Ocala .
