March 15, 2010 — Windsor

When deputies arrived, Windsor-resident Edward Thomas Frey was outside holding a gun to his chin.

Two negotiators spoke with Frey, 57. Rhonda Frey said her husband had been drinking all day and threatened to kill them both.

Around 3:20 p.m., according to law enforcement, he stopped talking and pointed the gun at the SWAT team and other deputies. Read more

Frey died at the hospital.

A grand jury cleared the officers of any wrongdoing.

This was the 17th police shooting in Florida in 2010.

13 days earlier, one officer shot one person in Gainesville .
