Sep. 23, 2014 — Palm Springs

Shortly after noon, Eddie Isaac Bean used a handgun to steal more than $69,000 from a TD Bank.

After he pistol-whipped several employees, police were waiting for him when he came out of the bank. They said that Bean, 25, fired one round before being hit once in the leg by police gunfire.

Bean pleaded guilty to bank robbery with assault and firing a gun during a violent crime. He was sentenced to 27 years in federal prison. Read more
