Nov. 27, 2014 — Tampa

Around 1 p.m. on Thanksgiving eve, deputies responded to Matthew Cormier's Westchase townhouse after his sister reported that he was suicidal.

Cormier, 45, threatened deputies, saying that they would have to kill him.

Around 6 p.m., he fired from a second-story window, hitting a patrol vehicle. When he again raised his handgun, SWAT Deputy Joel Tanaka fired one shot, striking him in the upper torso and killing him. Read more
