Jan. 20, 2010 — Lauderdale Lakes

Broward County’s regional anti-crime squad detectives were conducting an undercover operation with a confidential informant in Lauderdale Lakes.

They were trying to arrest Dannie Young, 27, in connection with a string of robberies. Young had been arrested 27 times between 1997 and 2007.

When detectives approached Young’s car, they said, he got out of the vehicle and pulled a gun. Detectives Esteban Gonzalez, Christopher Mazzola and Ronald Miller fired, striking Young eight times. Read more
