Feb. 8, 2013 — Boca Raton

Police responded to a report about a man on the roof of a building at Florida Atlantic University. There they found Nicholas Squire, a 22-year-old homeless man.

Officers Bill Hernandez and Gary Grande approached Squire armed with a Taser and handgun, respectively.

During their interaction with Squire, police said he pulled out a knife and started to lunge at the officers. Read more

Both officers fired.

Squire was struck by two bullets and shocked with the Taser. While undergoing medical treatment, Squire admitted he was hoping the officers would kill him.

This was the 24th police shooting in Florida in 2013.

The same day, one officer shot one person in Miami-Dade .

Also on the same day, one officer shot one person in Hialeah .
